When used with the "Redirect category shell" (Rcat shell) template:

This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:

From a subdivision: This is a redirect from a municipal subdivision (e.g. a neighborhood, borough, quarter, city district, suburb) of the location that is the subject of the target article.
- If the redirected subtopic should probably have its own article in the future, then also use {{R with possibilities}} and {{R printworthy}}. If notability of the subject can be shown, then be bold and convert this redirect into an article on the subtopic.

When appropriate, protection levels are automatically sensed, described and categorized.

When used by itself:

This is a variant of {{R from subtopic}}, specifically for municipal subdivisions, such as neighborhoods and boroughs.

This template presently categorizes into Category:Redirects from subtopics but could eventually go to a more specific subcategory.

This template's' behavior is essentially identical to that of {{R from subtopic}}, aside from its name and narrower scope; see that template's documentation, transcluded below, for details.

Most uses of this template that are not also redirects from misspellings or misnomers, should have {{R from printworthy}} in addition to this template. Ones that seem like subjects we need articles about should also have {{R with possibilities}}.

This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from subtopics. Add this rcat to a redirect page (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner, in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT:

Template {{Template:Redirect category shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information, see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:

Use this rcat to tag any mainspace redirect that is a subtopic of the target, if a more specific rcat template (i.e., a more specific subcategory of Category:Redirects from subtopics) is not available. This type of redirect might target an article section ({{R to section}}) and may also have "possibilities" ({{R with possibilities}}) of becoming a separate Wikipedia article. Use those two rcats along with this one, {{R from subtopic}}, when appropriate.

Printworthiness

Please do not alter the printworthy settings of any rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia.

In main-article namespace, many redirects from subtopics are considered unprintworthy; however, there are many others that are printworthy, so there is no default sort for printworthiness.
In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Some rcats automatically populate either Category:Printworthy redirects or Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. Others, like this rcat, do not, and that means it is up to editors to choose which of those categories, Printworthy or Unprintworthy, is appropriate and should be populated. The rcats that are used separately to populate those categories are:
